Clearing the Cache

Copies of the web pages you visit get kept by your browser in what we call a cache - it's easy to imagine that it's like the back pocket on a pair of jeans... just a handy spot to retrieve things quickly.

Your browser loads the last version of a page that you viewed from its cache (pocket). If there were changes in the page after you last visited, then the changes won't appear for you because you are looking at the cached page.

Periodically clearing your cache ensures that you browse updated webpages and also fixes certain problems, like loading or formatting issues on sites.

It's easy to empty your browser cache of old page data

To clear your browser cache look to the top menu items in your browser... see the images below.

Still having problems?

If you are still having problems seeing old outdated pages... and you have taken the steps to above to empty your browser cache... then it's time have to start looking at what the other places are pocketing a copy - that is keeping a cache of the web page! Somehow we need to empty those too... and this is where it gets a bit trickier to determine. Your office or school network can also cache a copy... to make it faster for all users on your network to get a copy... likewise it could be cached at your ISP or it might be caught behind a content delivery network. So get in touch with team@millstream.com.au if problems are persisting when you make updates and edits but don't see your changes correctly.
